YCN OASIS: LASER CUT TYPOGRAPHY

Today I have booked a laser cut slot for my idea of laser cut typography, I had the idea go having the words cut out with interesting backgrounds behind it to show variation.

I sent my artwork to outlines and used some simple A4 white and black stock from the library to see the outcome of my work.

The designs took around 2-5 minutes for cut out however I did face some alignment issues in regards to the pages. With the designs not being central I experimented with the design at least 8 more times until I got the result I wanted with the help of the technician.

After completing a set of varied designs I felt that some of the type wasn't legible or readable for the user to read and some of the bowls and stems were completely missing form certain words.

During my one hour laser cut session I only managed to get 1 design out of the 9 completed, with this in mind it made me reconsider the processes I wanted to use for my final design and the practicality of them. I decided to leave the process for now and experiment with some other techniques to see which one would work best for ky work.
