RESEARCH PUBLICATION: INTERIM CRIT

For todays session we were set into groups were we have 5 minutes to present our work and then individually critique one another's work.

I created a selection of questions I wanted answering for my work which are listed below.

Questions

  • What format do you think is appropriate?
  • What colour do you think I could use for stock or do you think multicoloured would be effective?
  • Is there anything you think I can include in my research?
  • Any recommendations on aesthetics?
Answers

  • Possibly include some information about Manchester music
  • Different festivals and the calendar
  • Lanyard, A7 would be appropriate, multicoloured stock would be more visually interesting
  • Consider alternatives to the split pin, eg. hole punch and clip?
  • Fold out poster as discussed would work well.
  • In your content for the 3 club mights, maybe discuss your experience and whats good / bad about it generally for a more personal connection to the content?
  • A7 is definitely better, any larger and it becomes difficult to handle / swivel/
  • Use manchester colours for stock, use white and bright colours/
  • You could go a step further and package it in a lanyard box. Maybe use vinyl glitter and different textures to enhance party style.
  • Lanyard style ties in with the idea of music events - maybe think of alternative fastenings
  • A7 is most commonly used format for festival lanyards
  • Idea of a mail shot would allow you yo create more pieces, e.g a leaflet that folds out.
Action plan

Research into different binding and fastening techniques
Change format of book to A7
Research further into content to make the layout and tone more cohesive.
Experiment with more crafting and packaging methods.
Look into folding techniques for a additional poster design.

I found this session useful in me finding out what worked and what didn't in my designs so far. From this feedback I have now set up and action plan for me to work through to help me develop my work further.
