INDESIGN

Use a whole folder with all your images in, so it's not just the InDesign file you work with.

Link file: Can be linked to other files

Embed file: Stays on one file

Red question mark: Lost file

Chain: Linked file

Changing an enlarged image to fit the page.



If an image is too big for the format it can be scaled down but the image will loose quality.

shift and use the arrow keys to fit to page, change the frame also to fit.

Links info tells you how much it is scaled by so you can resize it into Photoshop for better quality.

To edit an image hold down alt and double click the image, and it will open it into Photoshop from InDesign.


Image > Image size > Change percentage
Image > Mode > CMYK for print

Once files have been edited in Photoshop and saved it will automatically transfer to the InDesign file.

Yellow Triange: in the links pallet double click image to force the update.

Creating a transparency image.

double click on the image to make it a layer and using either the eraser tool, lasso or paint brush click on the image to reveal background.




Polygon tool> Select reverse > Delete


In order to change every page with the same feautures such a grids, edit the A-Master page.

W key: Preview of how the document will look when printed.

To make text go around the image.


Window > Text Wrap



Change the features on the box to whatever is appropriate.



Contour Option round a transparency image when the 3rd box is selected.



Alpha Chanel: Transparency image, text will wrap around the image.

Using the pen tool you can create shapes and images to insert text into
