ASOS: ICON DEVELOPMENT

For the app I had to create a few icons to indicate how the user would interact with the app features. This is something I haven't done before so it was a good opportunity to learn a new skill.

Although my partner is more geared towards this part of design with me designing half the app I thought I would give it a go.Rinesh was already designing the bottom navigation bar so I started to design other feature which are displayed below.

In total I created 17 icons, all in illustrator using the shape and line tools, I also sampled some vector art that I later rectified to make my own design.

Key

  1. The star represents saved items that would go into the wish list
  2. The eye allows users to get a clearer view of an image
  3. The bin allows users to delete items
  4. The search icon allows user to search for items of events
  5. The camera allows users to take pictures and upload them
  6. The square option allows users to focus / edit their photo's
  7. The bolt allows users to turn on the flash
  8. The double arrows allows user to rotate their images
  9. The love heart allows users to like items they have seen on the trend hunter
  10. The speech bubble allows users to comment on what they have seen
  11. The double circle arrows allows users to scroll through slideshow images
  12. The pin is used for locating places and people
  13. The rounded square is a follow button
  14. The line is a scroll bar
  15. The cog allows users to edit their profile settings
  16. The rounded arrow is a back up option
  17. The 3 lines is alternative navigation bar style.
Overall I think that I created some clear icons that can easily be identified by the user, as a first attempt i'm happy with how they turned out and this is a new skill I have acquired and can develop further if needed.
