RESEARCH PUBLICATION: FINAL CRIT

For today's session we had to present our final design / proposed idea's for our research publication.
For my design I simply printed out my design in black and white so that it could be written on by my peers for feedback.

The critique I received was based on the question I asked, which are listed below and also just general design issues with the publication

Questions

  1. Are there any spelling mistakes?
  2. What would you recommend for the front cover?
  3. What style of images work best in the book?
  4. Does the layout work and make sense?
  5. Comment on anything I should change.

Extended notes: circluar images create a more playful layout. Use single digitts for page numbers

After the critique I felt that I received some useful tips on how I could develop my design even further. I also arranged a one on one support tutorial with Lorraine were we discussed my book in more depth.

I also created another selection of questions to ask her which are listed below.

Questions

  1. Can I write in first person?
  2. Does the content make sense?
  3. Is there a good amount of work?
  4. What can you recommend for me to develop on in regards to aesthetic quality?
Feedback

  • Audience focus
  • Loose the first person
  • Dual purpose packaging - Envelop
  • Look at White Stuff design - Insert card
  • Look into the Hacienda / Oasis font's
  • Divide the grid into 3rds and 6ths 3x6
  • Add more context
  • Keep size for headings and subheadings
  • Denote between the interview
  • White layer underneath type - paint tool - airbrush around letters diffuse -15% - place image.
Action Plan

  • Contact PIN for the logo
  • Collect and look at flyers and base it around those styles.
  • _ add more to list
