YOKE: INITAL IDEA'S / DEVELOPMENT

To start the brief I brainstormed a few quotes and naming idea's I could use to represent my typographically based design.

From this brainstorm I decided to go with the quote "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place". I chose this quote as felt it was something that was true in situations in regards to communication and the idea that communication can be obscured in any conversations with people.

I then reflected back to my research and I wanted to experiment with glitch style typography as I think it's something contemporary in design and would work well with the "illusion" in the quote.

I set up my document on Illustrator using Kenzo font at pt size 99pt and then printed it off.

Then using a scanner I dragged the typography down whilst the image was scanning to create a distorted look. below are some variations of outcomes from the process.

I then began to cut and paste some of the more legible designs until I came up with this outcome.

I then decided to reverse the image so that the background so that it was black and chose this as my final design.

The process of making this design was very quick and simple, it was a process I really enjoyed and will hopefully be chosen for the exhibition.
