FESTIVAL WRISTBANDS

After designing my festival tickets I then took into consideration the next deliverable that I wanted to create, which was festival wristbands. From my research I really wanted to create sewn wristbands that are generically used at festivals.

I created a selection of thumbnails to see what outcomes I could create.

I researched into a collection of website that produced fabric wristbands, but unfortunately they only take orders of 500 or more minimum. With cost in mind, I decide to think of other alternatives just in case I couldn't find a solution of getting them pre made or creating my own.

I decided to create a design for paper wristbands, and asked a friend who works in music promotion if I could get a few printed. Again unfortunately there was a minimum order of 200 or more minimum so I had to think of another alternative where I could use the same stock as what I used for my tickets. I then proposed the idea of creating later cut wristbands and started to digitally create them.

Digital Devlopment

Considering the research I had done into festival wristband design, I knew that I had to include what type of wristband it was and the date, also including the festival name.

I experimented with a selection of layouts using a 198 x mm 27mm format for my wristbands.

After a few digital experiments I decided to use the last 3 designs as a basis to experiment with. With the stock I had used previously I decided to test them through the laser cutting technique, to see how they would look.

After creating a selection of laser cut outcomes, I felt that the colours were too much and the stock wasn't applicable to the design of a generic wristband.

The wristbands were also too rigid to wrap around a wrist and were not durable. Also due to the laser cutting technique it left burn marks on the design. Although this outcome didn't work I am glad that I experimented with it and will be something I can rectify later on and produce at a higher quality.
