To help develop our work and to hear from our target audience, we had a group critic were we presented, discussed and received suggestions to improve our flashcards to our peers.
The session for the day was set into 8 different sections
- Prepare
- Present
- Listen
- Clarify
- Reflect
- Evaluate
- Feedback: Opinions, evidence, suggestions
- Discussion

We presented our flashcards on a A3 piece of paper and held them up whilst myself and others in the group spoke about what we had created. Covering aspects such as the purpose, target market, our intentions for distribution and tone of voice.
After our presentation to the other group, they deliberated ways we could improve what we had made. This helped us find the problems in our work and resolve them through the handouts they presented to us with their questions and comments on.
Our peers said our presentation was clearly identified and understood. The colour schemes were clever and represented the regions successfully and the cards where relatable, funny and simple. However they also gave us some interesting points to consider.
Questions and comments that stood out to us where
- Would you consider a different layout?
- Could you make the text bigger so it's easier to read?
- Will the phrases be understood?
- What would be on the back?
- Everyone should have an oppertunity to speak in the final presentation.
So with advice taken on board we made the changes necessary to improve our product which came to our final design idea, ready for printing.
As a group we discussed the layout and decided to change the cards from portrait to landscape. We also moved the faces and quotes to the back page and had the region name as the front cover. We also made the speech bubbles bigger thus making the text bigger and more spacious. We made sure to add whether the letter was a noun or adjective and made phonetic spellings more clear.
The critic made a significant change to our design and the development of the flashcards, through listening to the advice given and making the right changes. The session was very insightful and helped make our product more suitable for our target market.
As for our presentation we re-visited our slide show and made changes to make it more in depth and more attractive. We also assigned a slide each for us to read out, so everyone had an opportunity to speak.
