Visual Thinking.
Using letter forms as a starting point we were asked to respond to a series of tasks that focus on the visual investigation of form, media and format. The tasks will focus on developing our visual skills and would work as an opportunity to explore a broad range of approaches to the development of a significant body of possible idea's.
For our first studio session we were allocated into our blog groups where we all used the third part of our summer brief to create an alphabet soup. We individually had cut out 30 examples of each letter form and were instructed to order them into 10 categories of type
- Size
- Colour
- Uppercase
- Lowercase
- Bold
- Italic
- Handrawn
- Digital - Photography
- Serif
- Sans serif
We decided upon these as our top 10 and created these results and an outcome.
There was a lot of variations in the letter forms from colour, shape, size, weight and style which was very interesting to analyse when putting them into the different categories.
