LOGO

For the logo of my festival and from my research I wanted to create something that was unique and easy to apply across a multitude of platforms due to my focus being on branding in this module.

Thumbnails

Initially I decided to create a range of thumbnails of possible way I could execute the design, focusing soley on the letter x. 

From my thumbnails I found that I had used a lot of san serif and rounded typeface styles. I chose this type of style as I felt it connoted a sense of friendliness, playful and informal which is the tone of voice I wanted my festival to have.

Logo Types

From discovering the type of style I wanted to portray I then started to collect logo types that I thought would be fitting to my festival idea. I looked on various font websites from dafont to lost type.

Final

From my research I really liked the Obli font x due to the structure of the letters, it's rounded edges on the stems which reinforced the connotations of friendliness that I found from my initial thumbnails. I also liked the way in which on of the lines was cut to made it look quite modern and visually appealing.

I decide to choose this font as my final logo design also due to the fact that I felt it would be easy to manipulate in regards to my way finding signage.
