The process of finishing my type.
To help me design my typeface due to the intricate detail within
each letter form I decided to print the digital version and trace over the top
of the text and in a development stage using different materials till the final
process.
Black ink outline.
To begin my typeface I decided to outline the individual letters
with a black fine and metal rule liner to create a strong outlines so that I
wouldn't go out the guide lines while drawing my pattern.
Pencil
pattern process.
Due to all the intricate detail in the shape I wanted to trace
light pencil lines to create a guide line for myself and to also highlight what
parts of the pattern I was going to use, as the image wasn't very clear when I
printed it and scaling problems.
Final trace
with black ink.
After creating my pattern guidelines I carefully went over them again with a black fine liner to create the finished design
The final
type.
After finishing all the outlines I took away my digital copy and saw how the design looked without all the added intricate detail of the half tone dots. So I used a pencil to create them carefully dotting sections in each letter form to add emphasis on the comic book style.
Design
considerations
Due to scaling problems my type was smaller than I intended
and considered other alternatives to make it stand out more, I looked
at adding a generic comic book star burst and fight bubbles
around the outside. After tracing it I came to the conclusion I liked the
simplistic design more as there was so much detail within the letter forms.
