For the second indesign session I started to create my double page spread.
CONTENT-
I had previously written up the content a few weeks before in the style of a magazine article with a informative and humorous tone.
DESIGN -
I worked from double page spreads I had seen in my research and began mocking up the boxes for the content.
Point sizes: 89 - 24
Next I added my first image that would work across the double page spread. I uploaded and placed a jpeg. file which made the image come out pixilated. From the previous sessions I had leart that you can adjust the file size from how much you have scaled the image.
I took note of the measurements I had scaled the image to and opened it up in Photoshop to edit it.
I then adjusted the size by going on image size on Photoshop, making sure the resolution was at 300 for optimum quality.
I then placed the image and it immediately had a difference in quality.
I then started adding place holder text to get an idea of how the layout would work, there were a few readability issues with the title and there wasn't a lot of space for my other two photo's.
I then started to adjust these by manipulating the box sizes and experimenting with layout, and came to this final design layout.
I then added my next two images to see if it all flowed consistently. They again were pixilated, so I repeated the same process as I did with my first image to overcome this.
I then started experimenting with header of the layout by adapting colour and aligning it in different ways.
After experimenting with the head title I chose this one as my final design. I felt using a black background made the text and images stand out more and worked with the alignment of the page.
I then added my body copy and aligned the paragraphs so they all flowed consistently.
The process for creating this double page was quite simple, I decided to follow a simplistic style for the double page spread due to the workload we was given at the time. If I had more time I would have liked to experiment with this design further and created some mock ups instead of going from a design in my head. This would of enabled me to develop and experiment with the design more.
